Every business in Jamaica needs accounting services — tax filing, bookkeeping, financial statements, audits. With thousands of registered companies and even more informal businesses, demand for accounting services is constant and growing.
💡 Market Reality: Most small businesses can't afford full-time accountants but need monthly bookkeeping and annual tax filing. This creates opportunities for firms serving multiple small clients.
Step 1: Qualifications
- ICAJ membership: Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica — required for chartered accountants
- ACCA, CPA, or equivalent: Professional accounting certification
- Bookkeeping: Can start bookkeeping services without full CA certification
- Tax preparer: TAJ registration for preparing tax returns
