When someone in Barbados searches "car rental near me" or "dentist Bridgetown", the map results come first. Being on that map is free; most Barbados businesses either are not on it or have a half-finished profile that ranks under one that is complete.
Step 1: Claim or create
Search your business name on Google. If a profile exists ("Own this business?"), claim it. If not, create it at google.com/business. Use the exact name on your sign, nothing stuffed in ("Best Cheap Villas Barbados" will get suspended).
Step 2: Category and area
The primary category decides which searches you appear for. Pick the most specific true one. Service businesses that go to the customer (cleaners, mobile mechanics, photographers) can hide the street address and set a service area instead — Christ Church and St. Michael, say.
Step 3: Verify
Google offers postcard, phone, email or video verification depending on the business. Video is now common in the Caribbean: you film your sign, your premises and your tools. Do it from the premises on your phone and it goes through in days.
Step 4: Fill in everything
- Hours, including holidays (Google asks).
- Phone and a WhatsApp link in the website or appointment field.
- Services or products with starting prices in Barbados dollars or US$.
- Twenty real photos — outside, inside, team, work. Phone photos are fine; stock photos are not.
- A description that says what you do and where, in plain words.
Step 5: Reviews, every week
Ask at the moment the customer is happiest, with the direct review link, the same day. Reply to every review, including bad ones, calmly. Profiles with recent reviews rank over profiles with old ones.
Step 6: Link it to something
Put your website in the website field. No website? Use your free Barbados directory listing — it is a real page with your details, and it is better than an Instagram link that Google cannot read.
- Different phone numbers on the profile, the site and social — pick one primary.
- Marked "permanently closed" by a competitor or a bored customer: Google lets you dispute it from the profile.
- A profile that was made by an employee who left — recover it through Google's ownership request.
- No photos. Profiles without photos get a fraction of the clicks.

Frequently asked
Does Google Business Profile work in Barbados?
Yes, fully — map listings, reviews, posts, messaging. Verification options vary by business type.
How long until I show on the map?
Days after verification for your own name; weeks to months for category searches, depending on how complete the profile is and how many reviews you get.
Do I need a website for it?
No. A free directory listing or a Facebook page is enough to start. A website helps when you want to show prices, take bookings or sell.
Can you set it up for me?
Yes — profile setup and the first month of management is part of our Barbados pricing; ask on WhatsApp.
