site:yourdomain.com. Nothing? Connect Wix to Google Search Console, make sure "hide from search engines" is off for every page, submit the sitemap. Indexed but not ranking? Fix page titles and descriptions, add real text to the home page, claim your Google Business Profile, and make the mobile version fast. Wix can rank; most Wix sites just never told Google what they are about."My Wix site doesn't show up on Google" has three different answers depending on what is actually happening. Here is how to tell which one you have and what to do about each.
Problem 1: Google has not indexed it
Search Google for site:yourdomain.com. If nothing comes back, Google has not been told the site exists, or was told not to look. Fix: Wix dashboard → Marketing & SEO → SEO → connect Google Search Console (Wix does it in a couple of clicks). Then, for each page, open SEO settings and make sure "Let search engines index this page" is on — new Wix pages sometimes inherit "hidden". Submit the sitemap in Search Console and request indexing on the home page. Give it days, not hours.
Problem 2: Indexed, but only for your own name
Google knows the site but has no idea what you sell or where. Fix the basics Wix hides under SEO settings per page: a title like "Plumber in Mandeville — Same-Day Repairs | Smith Plumbing", a description that says what you do and where, an H1 on every page that is not your logo. Add real text to the home page — a Wix home page with four photos and two words gives Google nothing to rank.
Problem 3: Indexed, ranking nowhere near page one
- Claim and complete your Google Business Profile — for local searches it matters more than the site.
- Get listed where Google already looks: a reviewed business directory, your industry association, Facebook, with the same name and number everywhere.
- Fix mobile speed: remove video backgrounds and heavy animations, compress images, drop apps you do not use. Run the free mobile check.
- One page per service you want to be found for, each with its own title.
- Earn a handful of links: suppliers, partners, your directory listing, a local news mention.
What Wix cannot do (and when that matters)
Wix handles the basics well now. What it still limits: fine control over structured data, very fast load times on heavy designs, and large sites with hundreds of pages. If you run a simple local business, Wix is not why you are invisible. If you are building a 300-product store or a content site, that is when a move pays for itself.
- Search Console connected, every page indexable, sitemap submitted.
- Titles, descriptions and H1s written for every page.
- Real text on the home page; one page per service.
- Google Business Profile completed and linked.
- Mobile speed cleaned; directory and social listings matched.

Frequently asked
How long until my Wix site shows on Google?
Once Search Console is connected and the sitemap submitted, days for indexing. Ranking for anything beyond your own name takes weeks of the fixes above, not a switch.
Is Wix bad for SEO?
Not for a typical small business. Most Wix sites that do not rank have hidden pages, empty titles and no Google Business Profile — all fixable in an afternoon.
Can you fix my Wix SEO for me?
Yes — invite us as a contributor, we do the settings, titles, descriptions and speed cleanup, and send you what changed. Usually US$60–150.
Should I move off Wix to rank?
Only if your site has outgrown it. Fix the basics first; most people never need to move.
