Most people do these out of order — logo first, papers last. This is the order that opens a business in 30 days.
The "who pays" test: can you name three people near you who already pay someone for this? Pick one business, one town, one first customer.
Day 1 lesson →Business name at the Companies Office of Jamaica (the Super Form also applies for your TRN and NIS), a few thousand dollars, one afternoon.
Registration guide →Certificate + TRN + ID + proof of address. One account for the business, a pricing floor above your true cost, deposits on anything made to order.
Day 7 lesson →Google Business Profile, WhatsApp Business with a catalog, and a free listing in the Jamaica Business Directory — same name, phone and town on all three.
List free →Fifty personal messages, one flyer where your customer already goes, one post of real work a day, and the follow-up list almost nobody keeps.
Day 14 lesson →Bank transfer confirmed in the app, Lynk for small amounts, cards when it grows; deposits and reminders for anything booked.
Payments guide →Money in, money owed, new customers, repeat customers, the one thing that went wrong — ten minutes every Monday. Hire when the routine exists.
Day 30 lesson →The second free course covers the product side: margin, stock, permits, pricing and photos, pre-orders, the selling stack, deliveries, and the weekly stock count.
Every guide covers licences, equipment, the startup cost in JMD, pricing and how the first customers come. Start with the two or three that fit your skills and your money.

A business name for a sole trader or partnership is registered at the Companies Office of Jamaica for a government fee of a few thousand Jamaican dollars — check the current fee on the COJ website before you go. A limited company costs more and is rarely needed on day one.
Most small businesses in Jamaica start as a registered business name (sole trader) and incorporate later when a bank, an investor or a big contract needs it. The business name is enough to open a bank account, invoice customers and get listed.
Only once your yearly sales pass the GCT registration threshold (currently J$10 million — confirm with Tax Administration Jamaica). Below that you do not charge GCT, but you still file income tax, so keep every receipt from day one.
Service businesses — cleaning, tutoring, repairs, deliveries with a bike or car you already have — can start with the registration fee and a phone. Each guide above lists the real startup cost in JMD so you can pick one that fits what you have.
The papers take days, not months. The 30-day course paces it: decide by day 1, register by day 3, bank by day 7, listed by day 10, first customers by day 14, open by day 30.
Businesses that open well become businesses that need a website, bookings or an online store later. The course, the guides and the directory listing are free; a turnkey website is J$35,000 to build with the software, hosting and support on a plan from J$4,500 a month — when and if you want it.
A free listing in the Jamaica Business Directory, reviewed by a person. And when the first ten customers are paying and you are tired of answering the same questions, a turnkey website is J$35,000 to build with the software, hosting and support on a plan from J$4,500/mo.
