🚀 Open in 30 Days: Start a Business in Jamaica · Lesson 5 of 8 · free
Where the first ten actually come from in Jamaica — your circle, the community, one flyer, one post a day, and the follow-up almost nobody does.
⏱ About 15 minutes · read it, then do the "Do this now" steps before the next lesson
Your first ten customers are people who already know you: family, church, the gym, old workmates, your children's school. Tell every one of them, personally, what you are opening and when. Not a broadcast — a message with their name. Ask each one for one introduction.
One good flyer in the places your customer already goes (the pharmacy board, the barbershop, the school gate). One WhatsApp status and one Facebook or TikTok post a day showing the work, not the logo: the cake coming out, the car being detailed, the lesson being taught. Thirty days of that is a portfolio and a reputation.
Most people say "soon" and never come back. Keep a simple list — name, what they wanted, the date you spoke. Message every one of them again after five days. That list, followed up, is where customers two through ten live.
Fifty personal messages, one flyer placed, one post a day, and a follow-up list by day 21.
List the business free in the Jamaica Business Directory the day you open — reviewed by a person, live in a day. When the first ten are paying, a turnkey website is J$35,000 to build, with the software, hosting and support on a plan from J$4,500/mo.
