If you change one thing on your site this month, change this. We have never checked a Jamaican site where a proper WhatsApp button did not raise enquiries.
The link
https://wa.me/1876XXXXXXX?text=Hi%2C%20I%20saw%20your%20website — full number with the 1 and 876, no spaces, no dashes. The text= part is the pre-typed message; change it per page so you know where they came from and they do not have to think of what to say.
Where it goes
- Phone: a round button fixed bottom-right, always visible, on every page.
- Desktop: in the header next to the logo, and again at the end of every service section.
- Never: only on the contact page. Nobody goes to the contact page.
The message
"Hi Lee, I want to book the weekend rental" converts better than a blank chat because the customer does not have to compose anything, and you can answer with the price in one reply. Write one per page: the service name, the thing they are likely to want.
Counting
Ezy Stats counts taps on Ezy sites. Elsewhere, a GA4 click event on the button, or simply the per-page messages you can see in your own chats.
Mistakes that make it useless
- A button that opens a form instead of the chat.
- The number saved without the 1876, so it fails outside Jamaica.
- Nobody answering for two days — the button works, the business does not.
- Five buttons (call, email, form, Instagram, WhatsApp) — one is the answer.
- Build the link with your number and a message for your busiest page.
- Put it in the header and fixed on mobile.
- Reply to every message within the hour for a week and count the sales.
Not sure which step you're on? Book a growth call — fifteen minutes with Lee, no pressure, no obligation. You leave with the step, the first fix and the price.
Frequently asked
Can I add this to Wix, Shopify or WordPress?
Yes. All three have a button or app for it; the wa.me link also works in any menu or button.
Should I use WhatsApp Business?
Yes — catalogue, quick replies and away messages make the button work even when you are busy.
What about a chat widget?
A widget that opens WhatsApp is fine. A widget that opens its own chat box nobody watches is worse than nothing.
